Jen Digital Jenoptik JD11
My first digital camera. I bought it for 249,- DM in I think a Horten shopping
center in October 1999. I took it with me on my first US trip.
At first I used the Windows Software (FotoBee) with WINE (which was working
just fine!), then I reverse engineered the protocol and image compression
and wrote a standalone C program. After getting to know gphoto, I ported
the driver to 0.4.3, and later on to 2.0 with continuing improvements.
- Powered by 2 AA batteries. They have a very low battery drain, I took
like 300 pictures with those batteries.
- Serial, 115200 Baud.
- 640x480 interpolated image, CCD has bayer raster G: 320x480, R: 320x240, B: 320x240
- Smart Media Card, default memory size 2MB.
- You can do selftests from remote, but apparently not take pictures.
- Configuration allows some color range (which is not persistent though),
and length of artificial light exposure in full seconds. Both are not
settable on the camera unfortunately.
- More boring technical details how I reverse engineered the camera.
- Current gphoto2 status: All features implemented. Data transfer is however
not as reliable as it could be.
- Uses 'jd11' gphoto driver.
